Jodi Kraus has accomplished a great deal here as far as an advanced children's book goes. The pace and readability are good with just enough suspense (but not quite nightmare-inducing) and humor that a kid could fall in love with. I was also impressed with the detailed backstory for both the plot and the character development. Jodi was obviously very careful with continuity and attention to details, which is a pitfall even much more experienced writers sometimes fall into (i.e. J.K.Rowling, Janet Evanovich, to name a few). I think if you have a pre-teen with a love for reading, particularly adventure, suspense, and relatable characters, you won't go wrong steering them toward this (and future) work of Ms. Kraus.Product details

This book was a fun little read! Lot's of twists and turns and surprises, complete with super-sleuthing and mysticism. I think pre-teens and young teens will especially like it. I certainly enjoyed it and read it in an afternoon because I couldn't put it down!
A nice debut novel for Jodi Kraus. Read it in a day! Eagerly awaiting any more books by this author!
Great book from what my 13 year old daughter told me. I am waiting for my other daughter to get done, so I can have my turn. Once she started reading it she couldn't put it down. A must have for your library!
Excellent read. Jodie Kraus does a great job of hooking you into this one.
I read this book straight through in one sitting. I was hooked on the storyline and didn't want to stop reading until I knew the ending! The story is very well developed, characters are very genuine and likeable, and the mystery turns and twists so you can't figure out the ending until you get there. It was definitely not a predictable story, which makes it a great mystery! I will definitely recommend this book to every young reader I know, but I also recommend adults read it as it is a fascinating read. I can't wait to read Ms. Kraus' next story!
